
Bluebird Coffeehouse
Brand Identity, 2023
Tipico Coffee is a cafe and roastery in Buffalo, NY. They aim to be more than just a coffee shop, creating an environment that fosters community, craftsmanship, and joy. Their beautiful interior is carefully designed to reflect these values, but their visual identity needed more consistency to accurately represent their character. Through an extensive research process, I refreshed the brand with a new name, tagline, and visuals rooted in brand strategy. The name Bluebird interprets the brand's focus on friendliness and organic connection, and the tagline conveys their belief in community and quality products.
Interior
This coffee shop is all about the interior, a space curated for both aesthetic harmony and an atmosphere of connection. Its goal is to be an environment that centers on community, an identity that became the core of my branding process.
Research
The strategy phase of this project included market research and the development of multiple creative directions. I used a deck of over 50 slides to break down the brand strategy and ideation for visual identities.
Brand Identity
After many iterations and concepts, I landed on Bluebird Coffeehouse, a name that inspires friendliness and ties into the bright colors of the shop. I chose a warm, modern font that draws from the organic shapes of the space and used it as the basis of my logo. For the main icon, I adapted the letterform to include a bluebird motif and more flowing, connected lines to create a customized logo that harmonizes with the interior of the cafe.
Brand Applications and Manual
Once I solidified the brand’s logos and core identity, I created the brand manual, a multi-page document that guides the way Bluebird's identity is communicated. I also created physical and digital touchpoints that are designed to continue carrying out Bluebird's message to its customers. Here's to coffee that connects!
